Yet Another Very Scary Enviro Show

Posted: October 16, 2014 in Uncategorized

smilin_20jack_smallGreetings Earthlings. We are afraid we’ve lost many of our listeners over the years due to all the doom & gloom we foist on you, so this Halloween season we’ve decided to…….ramp it up! Buwaahahahaha! (sorry). The Good Green Witch returns to give us the lowdown on our favorite hollowday and Terra Friedrichs from Pass Mass Amendent along with local activist Diane McAvoy will scare the wits out of you with creepy tales of Corporate America. All that plus a dark night’s journey into The Enviro Show Echo Chamber and a visit with the Fool-on-the-Hill, but first it’s time for……..Revenge of the Critters! Another Walmart horror story! Prrrrrrfect for Halloween. Walmart shopper’s child  attacked by bat near the Tombstone Pizza shelf!!

It’s Fool-not-yet-on-the-Hill time again! Remember Scott Brown? This from Grist:”Former Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown (R) is running for Senate in New Hampshire. In a GOP primary debate in August, asked whether he believed in human-made climate change, he said, “Uh, no.” Now that he’s in the general, he says that climate change is “a combination of manmade and natural. That’s what I’ve said, and I continue to believe that.”  Pants on fire!!

Our Quote of the Week calls for another trip in the Wayback Machine: ”

“I love Nature partly because she is not man, but a retreat from him…..He is constraint, she is freedom to me. He makes me wish for another world. She makes me content with this.”   [Henry David Thoreau Journal, 3 January 1853]

We Meet the New Boss hedging on methane emissions enough that some of his fellow Dems have called him on it (politely of course!). The frightening idea of increased fracked gas production and transportation as a “bridge” to future renewables gives us the shivers but it’s all the rage down in DC (where disturbing gas emissions are everywhere! ). You can contact his EPA here. When will the Boss start thinking legacy? Tick-tock, tick-tock……..

The Enviro Show Echo Chamber we have some scary news for you: Sea Level Rise Highest Rate in 6,000 Years! Well, we guess higher seas mean more room for the whales, no? (sorry). If Big Oil has its way though, there will be even fewer whales. Here’s our Enviro Show Blog Bonus so YOU can do something about it. More scary news! Did you hear about NASA discovering a 2,500 square mile methane cloud looming over the Four Corners out West? Would you be surprised if we told you that trick is  “likely from established gas, coal, and coalbed methane mining and processing.” ?

A little E-Valleyuation here: We have pics from Yesterday’s Climate Justice March in Springfield (resulting in a City Council vote to adpt a climate plan for The City of Homes). And this: The Enviro Show endorses Rep. Stephen Kulik for another term as Massachusetts State Representative for First Franklin District of Western Massachusetts.

After we visit with The Good Green Witch , as well as chat with Diane and Terra about those corporate devils, it’s on to the Bus Stop Billboard:
