tree-greenNew Years Greetings Earthlings. [WE PREEMPT THIS POST WITH THE BEST NEW YEARS READ IN A VERY LONG TIME HERE]  NOW, Out with the old/In with the New and greetings 2015 and what will it mean? In our mostly hour-long interview between local tree-hugger Chris Matera and West Coast deep green resister, Derrick Jensen 2015 might mean more (or less) Green. It remains to be seen. We do that and a truncated version of the usual suspect segments, but first it’s time for………Revenge of the Critters! Another two-legged thief meets justice from the animal world.  Wasps-on-WASP crime!

In The Enviro Show Echo Chamber we lead off with your Enviro Show Blog Bonus Action link: pissed about all the GIANT electric rate increases foisted upon you by the utilities? Even more pissed that they are carrying water….er…make that Fracked Gas for the likes of Kinder Morgan as an excuse to raise your rates? Go HERE!  For some fascinating (did someone say infuriating?) background on rate hikes see THIS. Yes, someone DID say infuriating. Look at what the outgoing Patrick Administration just dropped in our lap: more fuel for Big Gas! in the form of the much talked about Low Demand Study concerning the proposed Kinder Morgan fracked as pipeline. You’ll find more balanced reporting here.  BUT after errors in the study were brought to the attention of its authors by THE PUBLIC the study’s release has been delayed (thanks, public!). You’ll find the errors in the draft report here. Apparently “Kinder Morgan’s attorney has jumped the gun in endorsing the draft [report] even though it overstates the cost of each renewable energy source by a factor of 70.56 !”  Do not despair, this fight is far from over and….we are everywhere!

We meet the New Boss as his energy czar considers climbing totally in bed with the corporados on fracked gas exports. As we’ve maintained from the get-go the push for new fracked gas infrastructure is all about exports and geo-politics. And we ask what we’ve always asked: what happened with “energy independence”?? Selling off the family jewels seems, well….unAmerican?

Our Quote of the Week sticks with the theme of this show:

“Trees are sanctuaries. Whoever knows how to speak to them, whoever knows how to listen to them, can learn the truth. They do not preach learning and precepts, they preach undeterred by particulars, the ancient law of life.” – Hermann Hesse

In our E-Valley-uation segment we direct you to No Fracked Gas in Mass for what’s sure to be some kick-ass responses to the latest pro-fracking, pro-corporate attacks on your community and the planet. Like they say: despair is NOT an option. Onward into 2015!
