The Movements Meld Enviro Show

Posted: February 12, 2015 in Uncategorized

uniteGreetings Earthlings. Sick to death of radioactive threats to you and your family? Freaked out by Corporate America’s fracked gas onslaught and their proposed pipelines here in the Northeast? How about we come together and resist? Never mind “one big tent”, we can form one BIG movement! More on that with Anna Gyorgy of anti-nuke/pro-safe energy Clamshell Alliance fame and Jim Cutler, of fracked gas pipeline foes MassPlan join us in the studio, and Sam Lovejoy of “Lovejoy’s Nucear War” fame calls in to help us come together…..right now. All that and we Meet the New Boss and the Fool-on-the-Hill with a side trip to The Enviro Show Echo Chamber, but first it’s time for……..Revenge of the Critters! Owl gets wise with runners.

We Meet the New Boss shilling for the nuclear industry in India. The Prez is trying to convince the government to fashion their very own version of our infamous Price-Anderson Act in which folks get pretty much shafted in the event of another Fukushima meltdown. Also, do you recall hearing about 91 leading U.S. scientists writing The Boss last June to do a rethink on biomass? How’s THAT working out? The USDA just announced funding for biomass!

We’re going plural once again with Fool(s)-on-the-Hill. Here’s all the Dems in the Senate who voted for the doomed Keystone XL bill: Michael Bennet (Colo.), Tom Carper (Del.), Bob Casey (Penn.), Joe Donnelly (Ind.), Heidi Heitkamp (N.D.), Joe Manchin (W.Va.), Claire McCaskill (Mo.), Jon Tester (Mont.), and Mark Warner (Va.).  Of course, they were joined by all those other fools as well.

In The Enviro Show Echo Chamber we found ourselves snookered by a viral Facebook post about Burlington, VT being powered by 100% “Renewable Energy” (actually there were multiple posts). Then a little imp on our shoulder whispered “Wait a minute, did you only scan that?”.  Sure enough, buried in the text was that word again: b-i-o-m-a-s-s.  Sorry Burlington, back to the drawing board!  We view things differently here in the Commonwealth. Now this: Great Moments in Newspeak! Orwell would be pleased to know that Kinder Morgan thinks massive oil spills can be good for the economy.

After our conversation with our guests we take you to the Bus Stop Billboard:
