Pay the Piper Enviro Show

Posted: November 8, 2015 in Uncategorized

paypiperGreetings Earthlings. Every now and then we stop ranting about the state of the ecosphere and ask you to help us carry on. Now we are going to rant about the state of the planet AND ask you to support The Enviro Show and Valley Free Radio! This year we have a matching grant so if we hit the $10,000 mark during our show on Tuesday, 6 to 7pm the Fall Fund Drive will be over and we’ll all go back to hearing our favorite shows without all the badgering, OK? Deal? Why not just call in to the show on Tuesday between 6 and 7pm at 413-584-1160 and make your BIG pledge. That would work! OK? Meanwhile we’ll carry on with the blog as if nothing happened, but first it’s time for……..Revenge of the Critters! The tables turn on another big game hunter. Maybe find a new vocation?

Broken News Alert!  No doubt you’ve heard Keystone XL isn’t going anywhere. After Shell pulled out from Alberta recently we wondered if the writing was on the wall for the Fossil Fools. Now that Obama has nixed KXL it appears Big Oil is in deep shit. The good news is that it’s getting deeper. The proposed Down East LNG port is being put on hold. Hey, maybe it’ll tank! (sorry).

On the other hand, the New Boss also has something to do with THIS. His Environmental Protection? Agency has come out with a highly flawed draft assessment on fracking and landowners from around the country are not pleased. And, of course, neither are we!

A little E-Valley-uation here. Remember when we had ongoing reports from Amherst resident David Kroodsma on the road during his Ride for Climate? Now, from Shutesbury, Peter Corbett is doing a “1 Wheel of Democracy 4 All” unicycle ride to DC for Bernie. We hope to get a call-in from Peter on the show. Stay tuned! (and don’t forget to support VFR!). And this clip from GCTV: Grow wheat/Stop the Pipeline!

Our Fool-on-the-Hill seems stuck to our blog like wet toilet paper. Yes, it’s Marco Rubio who, after Obama’s KXL announcement, tweeted: “When I’m president, Keystone will be approved, and President Obama’s backwards energy policies will come to an end.” Backwards?? We guess Marco wants to back into gooey tar sands. How…um…forward thinking?

We have good news in The Enviro Show Echo Chamber: Barron’s reports Kinder Morgan’s stock could fall another 20%! It just keeps getting better. How about this headline: “Business owners in Anderson County, SC suing Kinder Morgan” Here’s our Enviro Show Blog Action Bonus (do it for the bears, OK?).

Here’s our very apropos Quote of the Week: “There is one sure way that you can send a signal to this radio station that you like this program, and that you want them to continue running this program, and that is to call right now. …. Not later, not in an hour, during that other show that comes after us.”  – Ira Glass
